The end of class

..Well today was the last day of English class!!! I am happy that all this English stuff is out the way! Now i have to get ready to take the EPE!!! Which sucks! I had a good semester with the professor. She was very helpful and i also learned a lot in this class. At first i was very hesitant about the course and i was thinking about dropping it because of the tutoring but the tutoring was not bad at all. I actually enjoyed tutoring but thank god it's over! lol. Towards the end i got tired of going. LOL. Hopefully, i did good on the final paper! Now i have to start studying for the rest of my finals! Wish me luck!!!!!

presentations

Well Tuesday and Thursday people did their presentations. I learned a lot about the different criticisms and how they apply to films. The movies the people picked were very interesting and i am glad they were interesting because it kept me awake! Our group did our presentation today. It was very interesting. First, one person in our group was late and she had the movie! LOL. We were like i hope she shows up, which she did. Then our movie didn't play at first! We were like this is just our luck. But it turned out good at the end! Everything worked out!

Well today in class our group discussed the scene we were going to use again and we read our papers. We believe that we will be able to get the length of the paper. Today after class i went to the writing center so the teacher can help me with my paper. Thank god i went to get help. I was jumping all over the place with that paper! I was just writing as my ideas were coming! I didn't even think about the organization to be honest lol. But when i was in class and i was reading over it I realized that there was some things i needed to change around just like the teacher told me. I am very thankful for the feedback she gave me. I just need to be more specific and organize it so it wont be too jumpy or confusing!

final project..

Today our group discussed our difficulties of doing the paper. We also talked about what order we are going to do our presentation in and what clip we are going to be using. We talked about the length of the paper and how we believe that we are not going to reach the limit. LOL. Currently, at the time i am doing this blog i have 5 pages. I just made it to five pages lol. I am happy with my progress but it is taking me time to get there. I been researching about psychological criticism on the internet and i am finding a lot of information about it which is helping me a lot! Thank god for that because i have a lot on my mind at the moment. I just can't wait until the project is over with because these weeks are getting very stressful now!

psychological criticism

Well, today i worked on some more of my final project. I actually have 2 and a half pages and i am stuck!! I have nothing to write about it! This assignment harder than i expected it to be! I don't have any idea what i am going to write about and we have to write 7-9 pages. I can't even get three pages! This is going to be difficult. I need to get some more ideas about psychological criticism. I understand psychological criticism but i'm running out of ideas from the movie Boys don't Cry. I am just running out of things to say! Hopefully, everything will work out.

class

Well on Tuesday we did our presentations for Ella. I am glad that Ella Project is out the way so i can focus on the final project. Some people had some good pangrams. Some was also funny. I enjoyed watching the people present their projects. It was very entertaining. A lot of people got theirs off the internet which is fine. The ones i was finding on the internet didn't make any sense so i had to create my own. I started writing some of my final project so i can have a rough draft by Tuesday. It's kind of hard to find information about the writer of the movie. I am trying to find out does the author/producer have something in common with the movie or i'm trying to find why did she want to write the movie.

My ella project

Well, i finished my Ella project last week. I just need to look over it and do some final touch-ups. I created my pangram all by myself! At first it was very hard trying to use all the letters of the alphabet then it started to get easier. I already knew what i wanted to write my pangram about but it was hard using the word choices. Although, it was a little bit of a challenge i still enjoyed doing that assignment! I guess im about to start working on my final project. I didn't really start it yet because the class meeting will meet this Thursday about the one i want to do.

Ella..

Well, i finally finished that Ella book. I enjoyed it, it was pretty interesting. It only took me 3 days to read that book!! I'm surprised it was that at the most. I thought it was going to take me longer than that because at first the book was very boring. As i kept reading their letters at the end it started to get hard to read. I was like "what did they just say". But i started to get the hang of it. I'm glad that Ella had came up with a sentence because their language started to get ridiculous! Ella remained strong throughout the novel. It was a pretty good book.

Tutoring today

Well today we had got another tutee! This is our third person we had! She actually in English 1010 but she came there for her sociology paper. Basically, she came there for grammar errors. She said she know that her structure is correct, which was true. Her paper was actually good, she just had minor grammar errors . So far, out of all the papers we looked at she had the best one and it was interesting. Since, we had finished early she asked us did we have more time so we can help her with a short paper. For that paper she just wanted us to check for grammar errors, which was not a problem. Today tutoring was not that bad! she was kind of weird though.

Ella

I read more of Ella. It is getting very interesting. That man Nate was sent away and of course Tassie gets sad. Ella's father is an alcoholic! This is like the second story we read in class that includes somebody being an alcoholic. He eventually gets banished from the island because of his slip-ups too! My memory is not clear but i think Ella's mother is sent away because of her slip-ups. Also, Tassie gets into trouble with the council because of the death threats she made to them. However, Nate comes back and rescue Tassie. I believe that Tassie, her mother, and, Nate travels to the states to escape that crazy town they are in. The book is getting very interesting!

tutoring today...

Today tutoring was very slow. Nobody came in for none of the tutors. So to use my time wisely i just started to do some biology work. It is a good idea to bring homework in when you have to tutor because you may not have a tutee. Anyways, we have a group assignment to do and i decided to do Psychological criticism. We are doing the critcisms off a movie called "Boys don't Cry". I had watched the movie over spring break. It is a very good movie. It's about a girl who decided to dress like a boy because she liked another girl. I guess where she from being gay is not acceptable. It was very sad at the end. Once they found she was a girl the beat her, raped her, and then killed her. However, the two men was sent to jail for doing that.

Back from Spring Break

Well, it's so sad to say but spring break is over!!! Now we have to get back to work, which suck!! Well over the break i was reading Ella Minnow Pea. At first, it was very boring and i hated it then it started to get better! It seems very interesting. What kind of stuff is that ? They can not use words that contain certain letters of the alphabet. I would truly hate that town or wherever they are at. That just seems so unfair and stupid. If they use a word that contains a letter that is not suppose to be used in their vocabulary they are sent away. I believe they have three strikes. Also, they are going to be reading some people's letters which is not fair and wrong. They town suck!

The reading assignment...

Last week for homework we had to read "Don't Delve too Deeply". Honestly, I have to say that this story was actually good! It was not boring. In fact, i liked it a lot! It was kind of funny! That man was so clueless about why his wife left him! LOL. It was pretty obvious that she left him because he was too clingy! He was also there by her side! A woman NEEDS her space!!! Even when she would go to the bathroom he would want to go! If that is not weird i don't know what is!! His father and his wife mother knew why she left him! That is why his father said "don't delve too deeply and leave it alone"! However, i do not see anything wrong with a man who loves to cook! But he always want to do it! He liked to do a lot of women things! He was kind of weird but i still enjoyed reading the story.

Tutoring Today!!!

Today, tutoring was not bad at all ! It was actually fun! LOL . We had another tutee today! This time it was a male. He was a sophomore. He was not in there for his English class he was in there for his Art class. He had an 8 page paper. Basically, he came in there just for us to make sure his paper was organize, his structure was correct, and to check for a few grammar errors. Honestly, i have to say that his paper was very good! His content, structure, organization,etc was excellent. However, he needs to work on his grammar. Other than that his paper was just fine! I'm glad his paper was not terrible!!! He was a very nice young man!

tutoring

Yeah, i am in the writing center. Me and my partner have been here for like 35 minutes and we have not had anybody to tutor today. Which i am not mad about because i can still observe the other tutors. I really think that this is a very good experience for me. Although we only had one tutee i still enjoyed it! I wish we could have tutored her a little longer because she needed more help but we were running out of time! Her paper was due the next day, so we had told her that she should get a head start on her paper and come to the writing center a little early instead of waiting at the last minute! Yeah, i am pretty sure we all experienced that last minute thing! But tutoring so far has not been that bad at all. At first, i really didn't want to do it, i was about ready to drop the class but it is very helpful!

The reading....

For homework on Thursday we had to read "Bartleby". Personally, i really do not like the story. It is kind of boring. Bascially, it is about these four workers with four different personailities. Bartleby is a very lazy worker! His famous line is "I would prefer not to". Bartleby is a very strange character! He is weird! He is always at work he basically live there! He have no social life really! He need a life ! Oh yeah, in class last Thursday we discussed feminist criticism. Whenever i hear "she is a feminist" i just automatically assume that she hate men . I know all do not hate men but some can be a little easy on some. From the readings we had read i can tell that the author was a feminist in the story "story by the hour" it was very obvious.

Man it is very hard to keep up with the blogs (topic wise)

Today in class we brought our rough drafts for this culture icon essay! Thank god it is over because that took a lot of hard work! it was hard finding a topic to write about. Well we had four people in our group and we all rotated the papers so everyone can have a chance to look at each other's paper! They all had good topics and a lot of good information. I feel pretty confident about my paper though. I believe that peer editing is a very good idea! It is very helpful and it can teaches us new things about writing! Well after class we went to the Pizza hut that is open in the student center! So far it is good!! Oh yeah i have another Biology and Math exam on friday!!!

first!

Well, i am in the writing center about to leave. Today was our first day tutoring somebody! i was very excited to get somebody to tutor! The person we helped was a Eng 1010 student. She was so confused about her own paper that she had written. When we will ask her what is she trying to say,she really could not respond with a clear answer. She had good information but she needed more details about some information. She also needed a thesis, which she had formed eventually. Her paper was almost like the one we did in class that day! She had major grammar errors which really made the paper hard to read. So we had her read the paper out loud and she was stumbling on her own paper. She need to go back to the basic things about grammar. I refered her to the English handbooks so she can look up a variety of things. I think we helped her a lot and I'm glad she feel a lot better about her paper.

today in class

Today in class we discussed Popular Culture. I'm glad we discussed this because it helped me better understand popular culture. I needed the help because now i have a better understanding about the Popular Culture Icon essay. Thanks to the article on e-reserves and the class discussion today i understand what is popular culture. On Weds. we had a lot of snow and when our Biology class started they did not even shovel that part!! We had to walk in all that snow! Wayne State should have canceled classes for that day or at least the morning classes because all the snow was not plowed! Good thing i only had one class!

Me and my partner are currently in the writing center waiting for a Tutee. Hopefully, we will get somebody to tutor because I am ready to help somebody. It kind of suck when you don't have nobody to tutor. I guess for now on i will bring some homework to do while we wait for a student to show up looking for help. Last week Thursday we were assigned a popular culture icon essay to do. It is pretty hard to find a popular culture icon to write about. We have a rough draft due this Thursday and i haven't really found anything to write about. I emailed the teacher asking her can i do a certain popular icon, so i am just waiting for her response so i can start the essay. Oh yeah last week we talked about the reading we had read for that week and i fully understand the second story we had to read!

Man, it is tooo cold outside! Sometimes i just don't feel like getting out the bed to go to class but i do it anyway, since i am paying for it! Anyways, for homework we had to read "The Lottery". At first i was confused and i thought the story was stupid because i really didn't understand! When i was done reading the story i understood it! That was a very mean thing they did to that lady. The other story we had to read i really didn't understand it. I understand the made new amendments for the future but i still didn't get it! I guess we will discuss it in class! Oh yeah, in class on Tuesday we received our papers back from our presentation and our paper about our tutoring collage! We received an A and an A- !! i am very satisfied about that! Me and my partner worked hard!

The Writing Center

Today me and my partner went to the writing center for an hour. We meant a nice GTA named Mike. We observed him for about 20 minutes then his tutee left. After that Mike was telling us more about tutoring and a lot of other stuff too! The Writing center didn't have a lot of students in there. It started off kind of loud then like ten minutes later it quiet down. I am kind of excited about this tutoring thing! i can't wait until we can tutor a student! Me and the tutee can benefit from this! At first i was going to drop this class because i didn't want to tutor but then i decided to keep it because it can be a good experience.

The reading

For homework we had to read two poems called "I could not stop for death" and "The fish" ! They were ok, but i really didn't understand the first one. I'm not really into poetry like that at all ! I don't read poetry unless i have to or if it is very interesting. I am ready for a vacation already! School can be very stressing! I have a biology exam and a math exam this friday and this tutoring collage paper! So me and my partner are trying to get this collage paper done tomorrow. We both finished our parts of the paper so tomorrow we are going to meet to combine everything together so it can make sense! I think we are doing a pretty good job as of right now!

Class has been....

English class has been going good so far. I have been really enjoying this class so far. The teacher is NOT boring at all!!!! I don't like boring teachers that will put me to sleep! I am excited about tutoring and i hope everything goes well. I think this will be a very good experience for me! One thing i am afraid of is getting a student paper and it seems perfect. Although, in the Bedford Guide they said there is no such thing as a perfect paper. I'm like, what am I suppose to do if i think their paper is perfect of course I am not going to tell them that because they will be probably expecting an A on that assignment!!! On the other hand, I am still excited!!............anyways about the collage project i think me and my partner are going to do a great job!!!! See everyone in class

I enjoyed class today!! It was not boring at all ! Today we were put in groups of four to brainstorm about "Babylon Revisited". I liked my group a lot and we all worked together. I enjoyed reading that story because it was not boring. When i first turned to the page i assumed that it was going to be very boring but i was wrong! It turned out to be good !! Also, today we signed up for our tutoring day, which ours is Monday at 1:00 pm ! I am kind of excited about this tutoring thing because i have never tutored a college student before and i hope it goes well. Also, me and my partner started to research for our tutor collage.
